Health: Free MEDLINE on the WWW
MEDLINE (MEDlars onLINE) is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the pre-clinical sciences. It contains bibliographic citations (e.g., authors, title, and journal reference) and author abstracts from about 3,800 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 foreign countries during the current four years. The database contains about 8.8 million records dating back to 1966.
On June 26, 1997, NLM announced that the MEDLINE database may be accessed free of charge on the World Wide Web. Two NLM Web-based products; Internet Grateful Med and PubMed, provide this access. PubMed has links to 30 full-text journals and NLM plans to add even more. In some cases you can see the full original article.
Education: ERIC Database
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system designed to provide users with ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature. Established in 1966, ERIC is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Research and Improvement, and administered by the National Library of Education.
The ERIC database, the world's largest source of education information, contains nearly a million abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice.

Population Index: Bibliographic database of references to global population literature. Also contains literature reviews on demographic topics
POPLINE CD-ROM- 1997: Citations on population, family planning and related health care, law, and policy issues, some dating back to 1827, are indexed in POPLINE. Included are citations to and abstracts of journal articles, monographs, technical reports, and unpublished works. POPLINE is maintained by the Population Information Program at The Johns Hopkins University with assistance from Population Index, Princeton University, and Annual Review of Population Law at Harvard Law School Library. United Nations: Bibliographic Reference Databases :
UN-I-QUE : United Nations Info Quest
UN-I-QUE (UN Info Quest) is a ready reference file created by the United Nations/Specialized Agencies Reference Desk of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. It is a database designed to provide quick access to document symbols/sales numbers for UN materials (1946 onwards). It does not give full bibliographic details. UN-I-QUE focuses upon documents and publications of a recurrent nature: annual/sessional reports of committees/commissions; monographic series; journals; annual publications; reports periodically/irregularly issued; reports of major conferences; statements in the General Debate; etc. Information within each record is presented in reverse chronological order to facilitate identification of the most recent data.
ILODOC: More than 50,000 records created by staff of the ILO Library and specialized Documentation Centres in other ILO departments, describing books, reports, journal articles, ILO publications and selected publications of other international organizations.
Industrial Development Abstracts (IDA) Databases: The IDA contains over 21,000 fully indexed abstracts of UNIDO documentation and includes descriptions of major studies and reports, reports resulting from UNIDO's technical assistance activities, reports and proceedings of expert working groups, workshops and seminars, and publications in series. The time frame is from 1965 to today. New entries are added each month.
A typical entry contains the title of the document, the master file number for use in ordering the full text, the author(s) and/or corporate author(s), date, bibliographic information, language, and an English-language abstract of approximately 60 words describing the work.

UNESBIB (UNESCO bibliographic database): A searchable catalog database of over 87,000 references to documents and publications issued by UNESCO, its Regional Offices and Affiliated Institutes since 1946, and acquisitions by the UNESCO Library from outside publishers for the different sectors.
