Drug abuse prevention, advice and training services for Afghan women in refugee camps in Baluchistan and NWFP

Proposed Duration: August 2001 - January 2004

Objectives:

• To improve the capacity of health professionals, social workers, teachers, community development workers and community groups working with women in targeted refugee camps, to address the use and abuse of drugs and drug-related healthcare issues.

Activities:

• Assessment of the drug abuse situation;

• Development of educational material on drugs, drug-related healthcare issues and existing services;

• Training of UN staff, NGOs and community groups;

• Development and implementation of the prevention strategy.
