on Future of Girls’ Education (in collaboration
with Dr. Humaila Khalid, Islamabad)
Proposed Duration: 23 May 2001 – 15 July 2001
Objectives:
- To describe existing gender disparities in primary education;
- To analyze policies and develop strategies to achieve gender equity in education
in the context of Education For All (EFA 2000) targets;
- To develop a model of family, community, school and student related factors
restricting girls’ participation in education;
- To explore possibilities of public, private and NGO sector partnerships/collaborations
to achieve EFA 2000 goals ;
- To investigate parents’, teachers’ and administrators’ perspectives of factors
responsible for the low participation of girls’ in education.
Activities:
- Research, design and outline of Study Report developed and approved;
- Draft of Study Report developed and approved;
- Presentation made and a research report compiled.
