The Mahbub ul Haq Human Development Centre (MHHDC) was set up in November 1995 in Islamabad, Pakistan, as a policy research institute and a think tank, committed to organising professional research, policy studies and seminars in the area of human development, with a special focus on the South Asia region.

The Centre’s current activities include: 

  • Preparation of annual reports on Human Development in South Asia.
  • Organisation of seminars and conferences on global and regional human development issues.
  • Preparation of national reports on poverty redressal strategies for South Asian countries.
  • Preparation of research papers on human development issues, to be published as an Occasional Paper series.
  • Publication of a biannual Mahbub ul Haq Human Development Review.
