Potential Sites Recommended for Inscription in the World Heritage List
 

Within the framework of the approved Request for Preparatory Assistance (No.99-136) submitted by the Government of Pakistan for the reformulation of the nomination file of the Indus valley civilization and the Tentative List of Pakistan, the Department of Archaeological Sciences, University of Bradford was contracted to assist the Department of Archaeology and Museums (DoAM) in Pakistan in carrying out necessary field work, documentation research, drafting and preparation of the same.

General Recommendations

The 12 proposed sites fall into two groups, fast-track and slow-track. The missions recommended that the fast track group (Harappa, Shahbazgarhi, Mansehra, Banbhore, Rukn-i-Alam, Lal Mahra Sharif, Uch Sharif, Baltit Fort) is nominated immediately, whilst the slow-track (Mehrgarh, Rehman Dheri, Bilot and the Kalaash Valleys) are prepared for nomination over the next five years.
