This report is a summary of the project activities for Women's Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation (WEPA) as undertaken by BUNYAD, with the support of UNESCO. This project covers a 10-month functional literacy and numeracy program, savings and credit facility scheme, and activities on health and hygiene. The program also covers: provision of latrines, their installation, and education about their benefits. The report takes a look at the unmet needs of education and poverty alleviation in the country, and then goes on to elaborate on the response by BUNYAD in this situation. It briefly describes all the activities undertaken in this regard, and also looks at the councils and centers established by BUNYAD for the provision of literacy, health and income generation facilities.
