This report presents a quantitative analysis of the state of women's education in Pakistan. Starting from the first census, it examines data from various sources including the Pakistan Demographic survey and the census reports (up till 1981). The statistics presented give a comparative analysis of rural and urban divide as well as of the provinces. It is further divided into primary, middle, and higher education as well as technical and vocational education. A major finding of this report is that the poor state of education, lack of demand in rural areas and lack of supply in urban areas is a universal phenomenon of female education in Pakistan. It further scrutinizes the development plans and expenditure on female education. However it fails to take into account the contextual factors affecting the state of female education in the country. Since this report was published in 1998 it does not include data from the last census.
