Statement on Gender in Pakistan,

This report gives a brief summary of the commitments undertaken by Pakistan as well as the United Nations office within the country, to protect and safeguard the rights of women. Specifically, it gives a brief introduction of the UN's approach to issues of gender, Pakistan's international commitments, and the prevalent gender disparities in Pakistan. It also looks at the UN's commitment in Pakistan by focusing on the three interlinked areas of advocacy, programming and in-house policies. It also points out that a lot of work needs to be done in the area of gender if Pakistan is to secure human rights for all and achieve a sustainable level of human development.
