Chapters: 1. Introduction; 2. The Statistical Invisibility of Women; 3. Women Workers and the Industrial Sector: A Survey of Industrial Units in and Around Lahore; 4. Women Workers Speak: Six Case Studies.

This booklet is an attempt to highlight that the so called process of development has itself been at the heart of marginalization of women; in agricultural as well as industrial sector. It explains that the very concept of 'bringing women into the mainstream of development' and 'integrating' them in this process pushes them out of the system. This reality is not well enough known, and those concerned with the "genuine" development of women must focus on unearthing this, and bringing this reality "into the mainstream". The publication of this booklet was intended to be a part of this process, for it indicates the role of women in the formal sector, even if this role is considered informal. The material for this booklet has been collected from two studies: "Women's Involvement in the Industrial Sector in Punjab", and "Participation of Women in the Industrial Sector".

Key words: Women Workers, Industrial Sector, Agricultural Sector, and Industrialization.
