Khan, N.S. and Fareedee, F. A
This study on handicrafts and rural women was commissioned by BMB/FEMCONSULT through the Government of Netherlands for the Punjab Small Industries Corporation, as a part of a collaborative program between the government of Pakistan and that of Netherlands for the development of crafts for women in Punjab. The report is divided into two parts. The first part is an overview of handicrafts and women and includes a general discussion; information on some of the handicrafts in Punjab; the principles of project and product development; a discussion on design, training, credit and marketing; and some ideas for the program itself. The second part of the report is sub-divided into two sections, both of which are based on the survey that was conducted. This part discusses the situation of rural women and also analyses the information that was collected on domestic markets and international exports.
Key words: Women, Development, Handicrafts, and Employment.
