This is a collection of true stories reflecting women's courage and determination. It presents the changes that came in the woman's own life as well as in the lives of those around her. This book outlines a positive note that despite the shackles of gender segregation and denial of women's rights to decision making, change does take place though very slowly. These stories also cover a wide geographical and socio-cultural range while the topics include family matters, economic rights, education and decision-making, the focus however remains the family. The common themes revealed in these stories are that customary practices and not laws bind women. They lack financial autonomy and decision-making power, and the resistance to the change in their status comes mostly from their brothers.
