The General Collection

Comprises more than 10,000 volumes. Another 5,000 will be added shortly after processing. Weekly inflow comprises 30 to 40 item received from UN Agencies' offices in Pakistan or through our Library's Publications Exchange Program with NGO's, Govt. Agencies or other publishing bodies.

The Reference Section:

A small collection of reference sources like dictionaries, encyclopaedia, atlases, etc. Main strength of this section is the foriegn language dictionaries.

The Statistics Section:

A rich resource of statistics information. The collection is kept up-to-date with latest statictical publications covering the global, regional and Pakistani data in the form of statistical yearbooks, census reports and population data issued by United Nations as well the Govt. of Pakistan Publications.

The UN Pakistan Reports Section:

Contains publications of all UN Agencies working in Pakistan, organized by subject. This section has been started to create an institutional memory and also to bring all the work done by all UN Agencies in one subject area, in order to avoid duplication of effort and also to learn from each other's experience. A computerized bibliography of this section is included in the computer catalog.

The Government Documents Section:

A small collection of publications of the Govt. of Pakistan containing useful information for the work of United Nations in Pakistan.

The Magazines and Journals:

A small collection of weekly magazines and journals. The current issues of these titles remain on display in the library, while the old ones are available upon request.


All publications except for Reference materials, CD ROMs and journals, can be borrowed by UN House staff members. Others may obtain them through our interlibrary loans or document delivery services. (These services are no more available)
