The number of
United Nations entities worldwide, has now exceeded thirty.
Almost all of them gather and disseminate information in the
due course of carrying out their varied functions. Much of
this information is collected and kept in the shape of electronic
repositories and databases. This information is made available
to the UN Country offices and to the general public, through
the Internet or through CD-ROMs.
