United Nations InfoNation
A rich information resource on country-wise
statistical data on all UN related subject fields. Allows user,
through a frame-based interface to select up-to seven of 185 countries
and four of 37 variables. Retrieval for current year only, provides
a snapshot view of country information.

Nations Social Indicators
Social indicators on Population,
Child-bearing, Youth and elderly populations, Education, Human settlements
, Literacy, Water supply and sanitation, Income and economic activity,
Housing, Unemployment and Health are compiled by the Statistics
Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United
Nations Secretariat, from many national and international sources
in the global statistical system.. Most of the data shown in the
tables are available in Wistat-CD, a database developed by the Statistics
Division with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

WFP Statistics: WFP in Statistics is an annual

aid shortages.

UNESCO's
Statistical Yearbook 1996:
For over 40 years UNESCO has collected
statistical data on education, science, culture and communication
and has built up one of the world's most important international
databases in these fields. Each year this database is updated with
new information received from all countries in the world. A part
of these data is published in the UNESCO Statistical Yearbook. From
the 1996 edition, which contains some 75 tables, UNESCO has selected
11 and made them available on Internet

This collection of facts about the countries of the world includes
information about: mortality rates, literacy, religion, labor force,
government and diplomacy, economy (unemployment, exports and imports,
currency and exchange rates, etc.), transportation, communication,
and defense forces. Information is presented in list format.

Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network:
CIESIN, The World Bank , World Resources Institute, and other UN
Agencies have developed Internet access to the following datasets.
Any user can directly query these datasets.
Economic
Growth Project, World Bank: Examines the relationship
between national policies and economic growth. Site contains abstracts
of published articles and working papers. Associated data sets can
be downloaded directly in compressed Excel and Lotus formats, along
with information on the data coding.
Eurostat: Online
Publications and statistical Indicators: Go on-line
and find out the main statistical information about EU countries,
on 7 statistical themes covered by Eurostat
Foreign
Labor Statistics: This
WWW site offers direct access to over 200 series of labor statistics,
including price, compensation, labor cost, employment and unemployment
data for the countries of the world. The section Most Requested
Series offers country-level access to 8 of the labor statistics
series. The section Selective Access offers access to 229 series.
Series are selected by keyword, country and year(s). Output options
are also available.
International
Data Base, U.S. Census Bureau: This data collection
is a compilation of demographic and socio-economic data created
in the US Census Bureau's International Programs Center. This WWW
site offers two features: 1) selected demographic data by country
can be directly accessed, or 2) the entire contents of the International
Data Base can be retrieved from this site to your computer. The
program requires 40 MB of hard disk storage and takes about 2 hours
to transfer via FTP. It comes with menu driven software allowing
the user to customize the information search and output.

Peace Science
Society, SUNY - Binghamton: The Peace Science Society
(International) is a scientific association of individuals developing
theory and methods for the study of peace, located at the State
University of New York at Binghamton. The Society distributes selected
data sets in ZIP format. The studies currently available are:
