Type, size and coverage dates:

MBS presents current monthly economic statistics for most of the countries and areas of the world. In addition, each month a different selection of special tables is presented showing annual and/or quarterly data on a variety of subjects illustrating important economic long-term trends and developments. Many of these special tables are also reproduced in the United Nations Statistical Yearbook. It is, however, considered useful to publish these data in the Bulletin as soon as they become available so that readers may have immediate access to the most current international statistical information.

MBS Online offers extensive coverage in such areas as: National Accounts, Labour Force, Prices, Industry, Mining, Energy Production, Manufacturing, Metal manufacturing, Construction, Finance, International Trade, Transport and Equipment, Population and Vital Statistics

Sources of Information:

The following specialized agencies and inter-governmental bodies furnish data for the MBS as indicated in the source :

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; International Civil Aviation Organization, International Labour Office, International Monetary Fund.

Type of literature:

The statistics appearing in the Bulletin are, except where otherwise stated in the notes to the tables, obtained by the Statistics Division of the United Nations from official sources in the various countries

Target users and use:

This collection of official international economic statistics of the United Nations. is meant for governments, businesses and academia. But, being a source of most current, reliable statistics ans an authentic way to keep abreast of vital international economic trends,  it has equally vital importance for the work of all UN Agencies in Pakistan.

A on the above web page allows limited free access to the resource. The full access, however,  is password restricted. The UN Common Library as well as the UNIC Reference Unit have obtained the Password to facilitate full access to MBS for their users.

Please visit the UN Common Library or the UNIC Library, to consult MBS Statistical Database and online retrieval of sttistica; tables contained in the repository through our Free Internet Access Terminals. Otherwise, please feel free to use Ask UNCOL, our phone / email-based remote reference service to make database searches for you for the document/s you need and send the statistical tables to you by return email. The documents may be printed, downloaded on Floppy discs or saved and delivered electronically to an e-mail address as an attachment.
