UNESCO ERP’s intervention in this programme area will extend non-formal educational services and literacy training to children, youth and adults in the affected areas. UNESCO ERP will promote local and contextualized technical and vocational education to prepare youth for gainful employment. Non-formal education programmes that complement formal education will also be developed for a holistic reactivation of the education system.

• Strengthening of the design and implementation og Government's Non-formal Basic Education (NFBE) program.
• Enhancing literacy programmes qualitatively and in terms of outreach in selected areas.
• Increasing access to training and employment oppurtunities for targetted communities.
• Improving the operational and training capacity of selected technical and vocational institutions.
