Training of teachers in earthquake-affected areas
In teacher training, UNESCO ERP has supported the development of training materials and the in-service training of teachers in the affected areas.Working with national institutions; this support included the conduct of a training needs assessment, the joint development of training materials, workshops and training. The teacher training materials are:

These materials were developed by the DCTE, NWFP with the support of UNESCO ERP, ISCOS, UNICEF, and the DEE. These materials have been produced in both English and Urdu languages and have been adapted for use in AJK with UNESCO support. 

The teacher training component addresses counseling needs of teachers, staff and students as well as the basic principles of participatory and learner-centered methodology.  

In NWFP, 56 master trainers were trained in TOT workshops. 319 secondary school teachers from NWFP were also trained by DCTE, NWFP with UNESCO support. In AJK 116 master trainers have been trained using these materials, and roll-out to 12,000 primary and secondary teachers through UNESCO and UNICEF. 11,700 school teachers have been trained with UNICEF support using these teacher training materials.
