Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Centre

The Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Centre has played a key role in UNESCO’s response in the areas affected by the flooding. Based on training material developed for the earthquake affected areas by the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education in NWFP, following series of consultations and subsequent inputs of the Directorate of Education Extension in AJK, the BoC revised and adapted the material for teacher training with the technical and financial support of UNESCO.

Some of the main adjustments made to the training material include making it functional to any type of disaster as well as the incorporation of Disaster management and human-made disasters such as conflict and post-conflict scenarios. The BOC took the lead and hosted the Training of Trainers to provide teachers with Disaster management techniques as well as psycho-social support.

The BoC has also hosted trainings for Managers on Educational Planning and Management in disaster situations. The resource persons from the BoC, PITE and Directorate of Schools have worked closely with UNESCO’s resource person building mutual understanding and supporting the institutional resources to take the lead in future activities.
