Training of Senior Managers
On Disaster Management, Quetta - 6-9 Nov 2007
The National Disaster Management Authority requested UN agencies to support and assist in drafting the Early Recovery Framework as guidelines for the medium term response to the flood emergency. The framework looks into eight sectors: Housing; Livelihoods and Productive Infrastructure (covering Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Enterprises); Health (covering Curative and Preventive health, Nutrition and Water & Sanitation); Education (covering the education system as a whole); Environment; Governance; and Disaster Risk Reduction. This task was given to the Early Recovery Cluster in liaison with the other clusters. The inputs regarding challenges, key policy recommendations and proposed management structure have been received from the clusters in Islamabad and the field. UNESCO has been proactive in the development of the guiding principles for the education system while advocating for a holistic response.
UNESCO has developed training material that can be used in a wide range of post conflict or post disaster scenarios in order to support the reactivation of the education system. The target groups for these trainings are Education managers, Master Trainers and Teachers... MORE
