ISLAMABAD, 24 May 2005 (UN Information Centre) -- Commemorating the centenary of the birth of second UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarkjöld and the sixtieth anniversary of the United Nations, the Embassy of Sweden and the UN System in Pakistan held an exhibition on Dag Hammarkjöld at the United Nations Information Centre.
Ambassador Ann Wilkens of Sweden and Mr Tetsuo Maximilien Ohno, Director of the UNIC, spoke in the ceremony, and cut the tape to open it in front of TV and still cameras. The ceremony was attended by about twenty journalists and government officials.
The exhibition set up at the UN Information Centre is a mobile exhibition prepared by the Government of Sweden. It is scheduled to remain at UNIC for three to four weeks, and is open to the public. Prior to Islamabad, the exhibition w
as held at Abu Dhabi, and it is scheduled to travel to Rome after Islamabad.
Taking the opportunity of this exhibition, the Centre started a series of briefings to shools/colleges/universities. From 25 May onwards group of students of different schools, colleges and universities are visitng the centre for the briefings by UN agencies representatives and are taking interest in the Dag Hammarkjöld Exhibition.
