
The United Nations System in Pakistan, and the OIC Citizens Forum jointly organized a round table discussion as the second event in the series of a campaign to the United Nations Secretary Generals report, "In Larger Freedom: Towards Development, Security, and Human Rights for All". The discussion was held at the Marriott Hotel, Karachi..
The discussion started at 10:30 with an introduction and a presentation by the Acting Resident Coordinator, Mr. Omar A abdi highlighting the major points of the report as well as proposing an agenda to be acted upon.

The panelists of the discussion included Dr. Farooq Sattar, Parliamentary leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement; Brig.(Retd) G.M. Mohtram, Secretary Home Ministry Sindh; Mr. Syed Iqbal Haider, former Federal Law minister; Mr. Ikram Sehgal, Defence General of Pakistan; Mr. Taj Haider, former Senator; Mr. Zia Awan, Chairman Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid, Dr. Yasmeen Qazi, Reproductive health Consultant of PACKARD Foundation ; Dr. Khalida Ghaus, Chairperson International Relations Department; Mr. Kanwar Khalid Younis, Member National Assembly ; Ms. Fozia Wahab, Member National Assembly; Dr. Farida Ahmad Siddiqi Member National Assembly Karachi; Mr. Mehmood ul Hassan, President Karachi Bar Asociation; Dr. Kaisar Bengali, SPDC; Mr. Nisar Memon, Station Director Radio Pakistan; Lt. Gen (Retd) Moeen-ud-Din Haider, former Governor Sindh; and Ms. Saima Sheikh, Legal Advisor, Pakistan Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Hummah Ahmad, Executive Editor of The News International (Karachi) was the moderator of the discussion.
The discussion was attended by the media groups, NGO's representatives, academias,
intellectuals and government officials. The event finished at around 1300 hours.
