UNIC Islamabad presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a collection of 171 photos produced by DPI in the course of 57 years focusing on Pakistani leaders in UN fora. The photos owned by UNIC have been reproduced with the help of KODAK Pakistan, and no financial cost incurred to UNIC.
In the ceremony attended by Additional Secretary (UN) Tariq Osman Hyder, Director
General (UN)/Spokesman Masood Khan, KODAK representatives as well as high-ranking
ministry officials and the media, the UNIC Director handed over sample photos
to the Additional Secretary. These photographs are vignettes capturing historic
moments of Pakistani
leaders and top diplomats’ interaction with the United Nations in the activities
spanning over decades, said Mr Hyder while receiving the photographs.
The Additional Secretary thanked the United Nations Information Centre for the valuable gift to the Government of Pakistan, and said that this historical treasure would be cherished, properly archived and displayed in the new building block of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on 18 October 2004.
