The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNIC Islamabad jointly organised a seminar on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers entitled "Pakistan in UN Peacekeeping Operations". The Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Mr Riaz H Khokhar was the Chief Guest. A short video on the participation of Pakistani military personnel in UN peacekeeping missions was screened on the occasion, which supplemented the sharing of experiences by two former peacekeepers. A former force commander in Sierra Leone shared his experiences in UNAMSIL, while a Director General of the Foreign Ministry highlighted his experiences in Kosovo.

In his opening remarks, the UNIC director explained about the importance of this observance and gave an overview of UN peacekeeping operations around the world, while the UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Mr Onder Yucer, read out the Secretary-General's message. A short question-answer session moderated by the Additional Secretary of the Foreign Ministry featured the seminar. For this occasion, UNIC translated the Secretary-General's message into Urdu, and also produced a summary in Urdu of the DPI Q&A leaflet on UN peacekeeping operations. Both of them were distributed to the audience.
