The World Muslim Congress (Motamar Al-Alam Al-Islami) is one of the oldest international Muslim non-governmental organization, established in 1926 to promote Muslim unity and world peace.
Based in Karachi, the World Muslim Congress has offices in Geneva, Jeddah and Vienna and is currently headed by Dr. Abdullah Omer Naseef.
The World Muslim Congress is striving for inter-faith cooperation, so as to create an atmosphere of tolerance, and strongly believes in the "universal brotherhood of mankind without discrimination." Dedicated to the cause of peace, it sent a delegation during the Iraq-Iran War to mediate between the two sides and is championing the cause for an independent Kashmir and Palestine.
The World Muslim Congress is associated with various international bodies, for example, UNICEF, ECOSOC, ESCAP and OIC. It participates in many of their meetings, submitting ideas on Islamic issues and other matters of interest. It is also working closely with the Asian Centre on Religion and Peace.
The World Muslim Congress was awarded Japan’s prestigious Niwano Peace Prize in 1987 and the Templeton Foundation Award.
