The Pakistan Crescent Youth Organization (PCYO) is a non-profit, religious organization that works to promote improvement in the field of human rights, the environment, health and a number of other social spheres.
Based in Karachi, it is led by Mr. Naeem Qureshi, who has been working closely with the organization since its foundation fourteen years ago. PCYO has 53 branches which are functional in all four provinces and in Azad Jammu Kashmir. It relies upon voluntary contributions, fund-raising activities and government subsidies to finance its work.
A clean and safe environment is a high priority for PCYO and it has devoted much of its efforts to seeing improvement in this field. Afforestation programmes are conducted annually in Karachi and tree plantation programmes have also been launched in Dadu, Khairpur and Thatta (Sindh Province). The organization has also successfully conducted clean up projects in Korangi (Karachi) with a number of schools. Its monthly magazine, "The Crescent" is devoted to environmental issues.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia honoured PCYO with the World Youth Award for its performance in the social, economic and spiritual development of society in 1990.
